Shaw Industries Urethane Adhesive Remover | SWREM
Urethane adhesives cure on exposure to moisture either in the substrate or atmosphere. A small quantity of carbon dioxide is released during cure that, usually, has no effect on the bonding process. In its cured state, the adhesive is elastic and flexible.
Curing of the adhesive film takes place from outside to inside at a rate of a few millimeters per day. When processing adhesives, the so-called "skinning time" must be heeded, namely the time after which the adhesive solidifies on its surface (forms a "skin") and wetting of the second substrate is no longer possible. This solvent slows down or reverses skinning time and allows for the removal of urethane semi-solids from various surfaces. More porous surfaces may experience more residuals.
You do not want these materials in contact with the skin. Remove from the skin as soon as skin contact occurs while the material is still in it’s liquid state. Using a soft cloth, lightly wipe clean with this product or Mineral Spirits and then wash affected area with soap and water. In general, mineral spirits will not affect polyurethane. You need to remove it before it converts to cured solids. This product will help with cleanup when used judiciously.
